Genaro's Garden

Genaro has decided that he is going to have a garden this year. I think it is great because we will save so much money on tomatoes and jalapenos! Besides those Genaro also planted onions, watermelon, carrots, and cucumbers!

A Fishing We Will Go. A Fishing We Will Go.....

Fishing, it is one of Genaro's favorite past times. Now the kids on the other hand don't have as much patience with it. They are all for it up until we get there and we get the lines in and then it is time to wait, and wait and wait...... No they really would rather run through the fields or play in the dirt.

Honor Roll

Congrats to Gabriela and Jesus for their efforts this year in getting good grades. Both kids made the honor roll. Way to go! Rojelio and Jesus played at the honor roll ceremony for the 6th grade at Jesus' school, Morton Middle School. Rojelio plays the violin and Jesus the trombone.

After we left Louisville State Park we headed down the road a few miles to Platte River State Park. There we climbed a very large tower, saw some horses and a donkey and some hawks! Then we headed to over to check out the lake. We decided to stop for some ice cream. Oh man Dad, you would have liked the soft serve ice cream they served. Not only was the price good ($1.50 for a large) they were HUGE!!! Huge for everyone else but the guy who served up mine :( A few of us decided that we would try out the paddle boats. They said that Alex was not tall enough (we learned later that only meant that he could not sit in front and paddle) so he hung back with Papa and Carmen and they went fishing instead. The park has a loaner program and loaned us all the equipment that we needed to go fishing! SWEET! So off went Carmen, Alex, and Papa (with his huge ice cream) to find a place along the lake to fish while myself, Genaro, Roly, Gabby, Jesus, and a family friend James took to the paddle boats. We were only supposed to be out there for a 1/2 hour but the guy said that whenever we wanted to come back in that was fine. A hour later mom had had enough, was getting a little motion sickness. But had a great time being paddled around the lake by Roly and Genaro! They wanted to do it all and I was more then happy to sit back and enjoy the ride. Except for one thing, I had to sit backwards. I did not like that. After we came in Gabby, James and myself decided that we would get some ice cream and go fishing with the others, while Genaro, Carmen, Roly and Jesus went back out on the boats for another hour! Being out at the park was so nice. The weather was wonderful, not to hot and not to cold. Perfect. A kid while we were out on the lake caught a catfish that was at least 2 feet long. The thing was huge. To bad the lake was 'catch and release'! We did not catch anything but saw a lot of fish and some turtles, swans and geese! We had a great time.

Family Fun!!

Today we headed out to Louisville State Park to see what was out there. Turned out that it was just a big campground. Looked like it could be fun to camp out. There was a playground with some "old school" equipment; merry-go-round, monkey bars, teeter totters and a very, very steep slide. The kids had a great time playing around and posing for the camera. We tried to get a family picture but not everyone was cooperating.

Welcome Ashley!

Thursday May 7, 2009 at 11:48am Ashley came into the world. She weighed 9 lbs 1.2 oz and was 20 3/4 inches long. Ashley has a full head of black hair. Her proud parents are Vicki and Guerrero and sisters Michel and Flor. Welcome welcome little one!
