Offutt Air Show

Last weekend we headed down to Bellvue and watched the annual air show at Offutt Air force Base. This year we decided not to go on base, so Genaro found a good hill and we parked! Parked in the middle of a field of weeds mind you, but it was sure a good spot. Needless to say I stayed in the suburban until the kids had smashed all the weeds down! I have to admit we were in the perfect spot the planes always went right over our heads!! It made it hard to get a picture when they were directly overhead because we had to keep moving in for the distance shots and didn't have time to move the lens back out to get the closer ones. The kids took some great pictures. My favorite plane was the Stealth Bomber! I also liked the F-18's and how they went by you without any sound and then you heard the sound. Totally cool! Can't wait for next year!

friend speak

I really thought that my husband was joking when he relayed this to a friend of ours, until my friend was at the house and they were talking about it and I asked her if it was true! It was!!!

setting-Mexico

officer to friend "why are you going so fast?"

friend to officer " Because I wanted to pass him! "

did she get a ticket??? NO

Now that sure would not happen here in the US! She was going over 70... hmm hubby thinks it was around 80m but knowing her we might want to up that by 10!!!!

friends speak

member of the spanish branch to friend "will you be going to church tomorrow?"

friend "no, I got all the information last year!"

Zucchini, zucchini, zucchini.........

We have so much of it. Everyone is getting tired of eating it. That doesn't take long because not everyone in the family likes it. After reading some posts on facebook and the mention of brownies I decided to try some recipes. Zucchini brownies! NOT! The kids did not like them, and neither did I. So that will not become a fav for us. Next on the list is chocolate zucchini cake. We shall see how that turns out. Let's hope better, or Vicky will have an abundance of snacks to eat! Seeing as how she was the only one that liked it!

Fremont Lakes

We have lived in Omaha for about 14 and 1/2 years or so and have never been out to Fremont Lakes. So on Sunday Genaro wanted to check out some trucks out there. We decided that we would make it a family outing. I thought it was too cold to go swimming so we did not bring anything for that but brought along the fishing poles and some snacks. We called a friend of ours that lives out there and stopped by to see them. They said they had just been at the lake and it was great. They loaned us some swim suits (had something for everyone!!) and we all took off. The kids had a great time. They loved playing in the water and on the beach.

Alex made a new friend with some dog and enjoyed throwing the Frisbee out to him!

Alexis and Gabby and Roly built a sand man, with the help of the other kids!

We came back a little burnt and tired but happy!

Sleep Over

Over the years we have had many people move in and out of the house across the street. A few times there have been other kids but not to many. Well last year a family moved in that had two children. One Carmen's age and the other Jesus' age. Over the summer they have become good friends and have enjoyed hanging out together. The kids all have similar interests and enjoy playing with everyone not just Carmen and Jesus. Alex loves playing football with the boy!!! He has occasionally gone on walks when he walks the dog and Alex just thinks that is the bomb!! The other night the kids spent the night at our house and all night long there was giggling. No not from the girls but from the boys!! It was hilarious! You expected that from the girls but not from the boys! It was such a nice change from people wanting to go home because we didn't play video/computer games all night or because they could not handle the smaller children or wanting to play things that I felt were inappropriate. Besides not sleeping till the wee hours the kids had a good time.

Happy Birthday Alex and Jesus!!!

Well Aug. 7th brought on the double birthday day! Jesus turned 12 and Alex 7. We ended up having two different parties. Jesus' was thrown together because he neglected to tell me about the friend he had invited and so we threw together a cake and a BBQ. His friend was going to spend the night but decided that our house was to boring for him and asked to go home! LOL Sorry dude. Two days later we had another BBQ and Alex had some friends over. This went much better because it was planned and Jesus' other friend that could not come over when Jesus celebrated his birthday also made it, along with a friend from high school and her family. It was really nice. The food was good and the company great! The boys wanted money for their birthdays so that made gifts easy and they enjoyed spending it! My friend Jen bought them socks and yes I know some people feel that should not be a gift, but my boys were thrilled!!!!Here's to another year boys!!! FELIZ CUMPLEANOS!!!!

A new look? Or not?

I have found this cool website where you can do makeovers on yourself to see what you would look like with different kinds of hair and hair styles etc. etc. It has been so much fun that I decided I wanted to really see everything so I got the 7 day trial subscription and went to town taking pics of the kids, neighbor and myself!!! Vote on which one you like!!! I guess I don't know how to count very well, I skipped 6, oh well I guess 6 will find it's way on here somehow, or just stay a mystery.

Camping Reservations??

Apparently if you are going to camp anywhere relatively close to town you had better head out on Friday night and reserve that campsite or you will be camping in your backyard! Or so we found out when we tried to go to a new campsite, one where the kids could actually go swimming. A little change of scenery, well we ended up right back where we have always gone, because everything was FULL!!! It's not bad where we go camping it is just that we have been there so much and this weekend was actually hot enough to go swimming and so we thought that we would change it up a bit. So seeing how we could not we ended up back at Wilson Island about 30 min. north of Omaha. It is really beautiful there and it was not to crowded. So we set up camp and the fam headed to the river to do some fishing. We weren't very successful. The weather was beautiful and we sat under the stars that night and just hung out. To bad I don't know any great campfire songs or ghost stories. Anyone want to pass some along???? Would love to have some for next time! We did enjoy looking at all the beautiful stars. I love looking at the stars at night. I miss Wyoming's clear nights were you could see a million of them! The boys pointed out the big dipper to us, but there were to many trees for them to point out the little dipper! All in all we had a very nice and relaxing time!

check out those abs eh???!!!!

A COMB???

Sure is!! Three of my six kids had the same 3rd grade teacher, Mr. Parsons! He is one of those teachers that goes the extra mile and adapts things to your child's needs. He lived up the street from us for awhile and then life took him to Kansas. Well last week he was up at his house here in Omaha, which just so happens to be up the street from us, and the kids enjoyed visiting with him. They were so excited to see him. You ROCK Mr. Parsons!!! And so does GUS!!! While the kids were there he was telling them about a flower in one of the flower beds. (Genaro will come back and edit this portion because this is how it was told to him)

ther is a cool flawer so cool you can brush your hir with it. that the indinds use it. my frind gave it to us and it needs a lot of era and sun.

COOL HUH??? I had to actually try it out and it worked!!!

July 6th HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROLY!

July 6th you turned 11!! You celebrated your birthday in Oklahoma where Tony made you a pumpkin cake (yum yum, which you still have to make for us!!) So when you arrived home we celebrated here with you too! You wanted cheesecake so we made you a few and one ended up in your face, which you enjoyed because it meant that you got to eat that one by yourself. No sharing!! You entertain us with your sense of humor! Thank you for always making us smile!
