Jesus added a new boat to his collection. He is fascinated with boats and really loves them. He is leaning towards the Coast Guard when he gets old enough just so he can be on a boat all the time!!!

I love boats!

Baseball oh sorry that was Softball!
hmmm... are you sure that is Gabby?
ok much better!!!
Oh course if Gabby had her way it would be baseball and not softball. She did OK tonight. Caught a ball to make an out and then during a play where the ball came between her and the center fielder both went running and well you can imagine. Deaf girl with dead battery implant looking in the air for said ball, and hearing girl, who Gab says never pays attention, looking in the air for said ball!!! )))CRASH((((
To funny! Of course we were all watching and so there are no pics of either plays! Bummer! But enjoy the ones Roly did get!
Happy 5 weeks!

Winter Quarters
Stacie sent us on an adventure today and we are so thankful that she did. Jesus, Alex and I had a great time. We are so thankful for all that our ancestors did before us, so we can enjoy what we have today. They had to have been such strong people. I don't know that I could have walked a mile in their shoes. Let alone across the United States, which many did before settling in the West.

Living History
After our outing this morning to Sand in the City we decided we would check out the living history going on at Fort Atkinson. It was a beautiful day to be out walking around. The weather was overcast and it was not hot at all. Little humid but we could live with that. We enjoyed walking through the rooms of the fort. We saw the quilter and tasted some sweet breads and cookies and drank some punch. The punch was raspberry with lemon and apple cider vinegar. The smell was enough to kill ya, and the flavor was to die for! Now how do we kill the smell to enjoy the drink???
Next we visited the jail where we saw the drunkard and other things they used for public drunkenness and thievery and various other crimes.

We then went on to see the weaver. Gabby did not like the feel of the wool before it was weaved into rugs.

After that we saw the carpenter and the ammunition house. The ammunition house was centered right in the middle of the fort with plenty of open space around it.

We saw the laundress, but did not partake in helping wash the clothes!

At the local store we bought jerky and saw how they made change.

Later we walked by the garden and checked out Indian relations guys! They were telling us how the Indians would gather at the fort because it was safe and they would learn about what the other tribes were doing. It was a great place to gain information and gossip! They were also making bread in their dutch oven. They burned the top!

Later we checked out the outdoor oven and headed over to the traders post, where we got to feel the furs of rabbit, coyote, deer and beaver. The hat Alex is wearing is a coyote. Trader was kind enough to pose for pictures with us.

After our visit with the trader we headed back to the fort where we checked out the seamstresses. We learned that they were the only woman allowed in the fort without having to have a pass. She told us that most of the time they spent outside of the fort. As we were getting ready to leave they lit the cannon and then handed out rations. How blessed we are for the things our ancestors went through for us to enjoy the things we do today

It is vacation time here in the Grajeda household. At least for some of us! The three oldest started summer school this week, so that left the three youngest and myself here during the day. Well Carmen decided she wanted to go hang out with a friend and it came down to just the three of us. Made for a quiet week. We had the opportunity to visit with a family friend that had moved away to Oklahoma this week also, and at the end of the week Cathy, Tony, Lizzie, Roly, and Carmen went to the Royals baseball game. They had a great time! That day Jesus also left for scout camp. He had a good time even though it rained really hard Friday night leaving the soaking wet!!! Saturday morning Carmen and Genaro left with Cathy to Oklahoma for a week. Jesus and Roly went to a sleepover birthday party, and once again it is down to just two kids this weekend. Last night we played 'hand and foot' and this morning headed out to 'Sand in the City'. A bunch of companies took part in making different sculptures. It was cool to see. We voted for mom's favorite, snoopy and the gang. But it appeared that no matter how much we voted looks like monsters vs. aliens was gonna win.
